Our Story

About Simplbatteryrepairkit

We are a small, independent team of Jamaican travel writers, photographers, and local guides dedicated to helping visitors discover the real island experience.

How It Started

Simplbatteryrepairkit was founded in 2021 by a group of Jamaican travel enthusiasts frustrated by the gap between glossy resort brochures and the authentic island experience that locals know and love. We wanted to create a resource that was honest, practical, and genuinely useful — not a list of the same overpriced tourist traps.

What began as a blog shared between friends grew into a full platform serving over 1,200 travellers each year, with printed and digital guides distributed across North America, Europe, and the Caribbean.

Every guide we produce is researched on the ground — we visit each destination, test every guesthouse recommendation, and eat at every restaurant we mention. No paid placements, no affiliate-driven reviews.

Our Mission

Our mission is simple: make it easier for every type of traveller to experience the full depth of Jamaica. We believe the island deserves to be explored beyond its famous resort corridors — through its fishing villages, mountain communities, street food scenes, and living cultural heritage.

We are committed to promoting responsible tourism. Our guides highlight locally owned businesses, encourage visitors to minimise environmental impact, and actively direct tourist spending towards communities that benefit most from it.

What We Stand For

Three core values shape everything we publish and every guide we create.

Honesty First

We write what we genuinely find — including the negatives. No paid placements, no sugar-coating, no inflated star ratings. Our readers trust us because we tell the truth.

Local Perspective

All content is created by people who live, work, and travel within Jamaica. Local knowledge gives our guides a depth that no outsider can replicate.

Responsible Travel

We champion locally owned businesses, eco-friendly accommodation, and community-led tourism that gives back to the Jamaican people and protects the island's environment.
